Landlords are not exactly known as the most reasonable bunch. If i had a penny for every time I've seen or heard a crazy lease clause, I would be a landlord. Most of the time, renting means tolerating their little quirkiness, but sometimes, like in the case of our lucky tenant, you hit the jackpot: a landlord whose garage is Noah's Ark for recreational vehicles, and whose sense of empathy is stuck in 1973. Meet the benevolent property emperor who graciously grants you a rent extension when your only assets are three dollars and a subpar hospital gown—then promptly laments his own hardship, namely a $3,000 property tax bill that somehow is your character-building lesson.

His favorite pastime isn't just collecting boats and snowmobiles, but dispensing motivational wisdom forged in the fires of his own midlife crisis. His greatest hits include: back in his day, hard work meant instant success, good jobs were just lying around, and if you wanted a new career, you simply strolled into a business, shook someone's hand, and started work before lunch. Apprenticeships? Who's she?  Bureaucracy? Never heard of her.

Nothing stops the messages from coming—surely there's time between emotional breakdowns to tidy the yard. Is this classic entitled landlord, early-onset nostalgia, or just a severe case of loneliness with a side of "look at my boat"? Hard to say, but the lines blur when a man with every imaginable toy still feels deprived because you haven't achieved full capitalist bootstraps mode in your twenties.
